Slovenia on December 6, 2024, passed a bill amending its value added tax (VAT) law to implement Council Directive (EU) 2020/285, which provides special VAT provisions for small businesses, and the Amending Directive to the VAT Directive (2022/542) concerning VAT rates, effective January 1, 2025.

Under the new law, it will be mandatory as of July 1, 2025, to electronically submit VAT ledgers in addition to the VAT returns to the tax authority for all taxable persons with a valid Slovene VAT ID number.
