Oman ratifies income tax treaty with Ireland
Treaty is not yet in force
Oman on November 19, 2024, via Royal Decree 60/2024, ratified the income tax treaty with Ireland that the parties signed on May 30, 2024.
The treaty was ratified by Ireland on September 18, 2024.
Under the treaty, the withholding tax rate on royalties and interest payments to nonresidents is 8% and 5%, respectively. In addition, there is no withholding tax on dividends to nonresidents if the beneficial owner is a company directly holding at least 10% of the capital of the paying company.
The treaty is not yet in force and will be effective from the following dates:
- For withholding taxes—the first day of January following the date on which the treaty enters into force
- For other taxes—the tax year commencing on or after first day of January following the date on which the treaty enters into force
