Tax-exempt organizations without direct pay registration number for clean energy credits again urged to contact IRS

The IRS is once again reaching out to urge any tax-exempt or government entities intending to claim clean energy credits that have not received a prefiling registration number to contact them immediately.

With only a week before the November 15, 2024, filing deadline for some organizations to make elective payment (or “direct pay”) elections to claim clean energy credits enacted by the “Inflation Reduction Act” (IRA), the IRS today is once again reaching out to urge any tax-exempt or government entities intending to claim these credits that have not received a prefiling registration number to contact them immediately.

Today’s IRS transmittal message echoes an IRS announcement made in September urging organizations to contact the IRS if they had not heard back regarding their pre-filing registration submissions. Read TaxNewsFlash
