The Federal Tax Administration announced a consultation to determine partner states for the automatic exchange of information on cryptoassets.

August 23, 2024

The Federal Tax Administration (FTA) of Switzerland on August 14, 2024, issued a press release announcing a consultation to determine partner states for the automatic exchange of information (AEOI) on cryptoassets.

The consultation seeks to determine which of the 111 states and territories with current AEOI agreements with Switzerland will participate in the exchange of information on cryptoassets, effective January 1, 2026, or with which partner states for AEOI on cryptoassets could be implemented later.

Exchanges will only occur if the partner states are interested, and they meet the requirements of the OECD's cryptoasset reporting framework (CARF). Prior to any exchange of information, the Federal Council will review whether these states continue to fulfill the standard AEOI requirements.

The consultation will close on November 15, 2024.
