The Senate today rejected (by a vote of 48-44) the motion for cloture filed by Majority Leader Schumer earlier this week on the motion to proceed to the House-passed tax extenders bill, the “Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act” (H.R. 7024). 60 votes were required for passage of the motion.

The Senate will thus not debate or vote on the bill before the August recess.

The House passed the bill in January. Read TaxNewsFlash
