United States: New sign-in options for FATCA Registration System users

Enhanced security to the FATCA Registration System

July 5, 2024

The IRS issued a transmittal message announcing enhanced security to the FATCA Registration System by adopting Login.gov and ID.me for sign-in, adding Identify Assurance Level 1 (1AL1) security.

Later this month, the current sign-in methods will be discontinued. Users must register or sign in with Login.gov or ID.me, with new users needing to create accounts and existing users able to sign in if their email matches the Responsible Officer or Point of Contact on the FATCA registration. The process includes email verification, password creation, and multi-factor authentication.
