With over 25 years of transfer pricing and valuation experience, Bernhard has advised public and private FORTUNE 500, mid-market, and start-up companies in a wide variety of planning, controversy, compliance, operational transfer pricing and managed services engagements, working for both KPMG and a global law firm.
Bernhard’s industry focus is on life sciences (medical devices, biotech, dental), media & technology (studios, broadcasting, digital media, gaming, semiconductors, software), automotive and other industrial, branded consumer goods, logistics and transportation. He has extensive experience in managing global transfer pricing and IP valuation projects covering all types of transactions. His engagement experience includes tax planning and international supply chain restructuring; transfer pricing dispute resolution; transfer pricing documentation covering major countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia; advising on process and operational aspects of transfer pricing; and developing and refining procedures around transfer pricing management that meet requirements under FAS 109 and SOX 404.
Bernhard has been named several times as a leading transfer pricing adviser by International Tax Review. He is a frequent speaker at industry, tax, and transfer pricing events, including Tax Executives Institute, Euromoney, and American Bar Association events. He has written numerous articles on transfer pricing and related topics, published in International Tax Review and Tax Management Transfer Pricing Report, among others. He is also a council member of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council.
Bernhard has Master’s degree in Economic Geography from Ludwig-Maximillians-Universität (University of Munich) and a Master of Business Administration degree from SDA Bocconi in Milan.
