Ada Tsai is a Director in KPMG’s Forensic practice. She has over 12 years of professional experience and has extensive experience assisting institutions (e.g., financial technology companies (Fintech), banks, e-commerce businesses) with the development, assessment, and enhancement of their compliance programs relevant to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-fraud, Anti-bribery and Corruption, etc. Ada has worked on numerous projects including gap assessments, program enhancement and development, risk assessments, remediation, training, and investigative due diligence. Prior to joining KPMG, Ada worked as an attorney where she represented clients in various stages of commercial, corporate misconduct, and government defense litigation.
Professional Experience
- Led engagement involving with one of the world’s largest e-commerce company to enhance its AML/Sanctions compliance program. Responsibilities included performing risk assessments, developing policies and procedures, performing gap assessments, providing company-wide training, coordinating with cross-functional teams to implement enhancements, and providing management-level reporting.
- Led project to enhance and re-design a Fintech (Payments) company’s global AML Transaction Monitoring Program covering the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
- Managed several AML/Sanctions independent reviews, audits, and gap analysis assessments for multiple financial institutions including Fintech companies such as virtual currency exchanges, money services businesses, banks, etc.
- Supported Fintech (Payments) company to design and implement a Global Enterprise Risk Framework and Program covering financial crimes (e.g., AML, Sanctions, ABAC, fraud), consumer protection, data privacy & security, and operational risks in the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
- Led project with Fintech (Payments) company to perform multiple financial crimes (e.g., AML, Sanctions, fraud) vulnerability assessments on the company’s cloud-based and prepaid access products.
- Led engagement to re-design and implement an AML compliance program for a banking institution. Responsibilities included developing policies and procedures, supporting implementation of the enhanced AML program, assisting with the selection of third-party due diligence tools, performing company-wide training for over 1,000 employees, managing KYC refresh of existing customer base, providing management-level reporting, project management and oversight, etc.
- Provided company-wide AML/Sanctions training for various global financial institutions across all three lines of defense.
