Ivan is a Principal leading the KPMG US Transaction Strategy portfolio focusing on providing comprehensive M&A services to clients across all sectors. Ivan developed his expertise over a 25+ years industry and consulting career specializing in transaction advisory and large-scale transactions leading to transformational operating model transitions. His experience spans the full M&A life cycle from due diligence, estimating synergies and one-time costs, to developing target-operating models, planning for Day 1 readiness and execution, and developing comprehensive transaction pre and post Day 1 roadmaps. Prior to his consulting career, Ivan spent 11 years in a variety of strategic finance roles at Morgan Stanley, Northern Trust, CVS Health, and Taylor Morrison.
Professional and Industry Experience
- Assisted with various due diligence engagements as a finance operations SME focusing on synergy and one-time cost identification. Led and developed numerous synergy / business cases.
- Led various clients in development of acquisitions strategies aligned with defined guiding principles (e.g. bolt-on, stand alone, integrated) and establishing playbooks to prepare and execute faster integrations or divestitures.
- Led Finance standup efforts for a complex $5B carveout for a PE client. Designed all Finance processes, people and technologies based on achieving aggressive synergy plans. Tested and adjusted plans through collaboration with client and acquired data from the seller. Worked collaboratively with all functions to achieve consistency, deep understanding of Day 1 capabilities, and post Day 1 roadmap items.
- Led two finance and accounting separation planning and execution engagements for the same client – one for a $4B and another for a $10B e-commerce companies. Managed all process areas of Finance including Controllership, Treasury and Tax to identify separation plans, stranded costs, TSA development and pricing, and provided post Day 1 support.
- Led finance and accounting integration and post Day 1 performance improvement of a $23B regional healthcare provider. The effort involved developing a plan and leading efforts to integrate procure to pay, acquire to retire, record to report, and financial planning processes to achieve an error-free Day 1. Developing a multi-year roadmap to address prioritized optimization initiatives spanning finance, supply chain, HR and IT.
