Scott Salmon
Partner, Tax
Scott serves as a partner in the firm’s Washington National Tax practice (WNT), State and Local Tax group. In this role, he is responsible for advising clients and acts as a national technical resource for KPMG’s State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. Scott primarily provides advice on multistate income/franchise tax issues and occasionally works in the indirect tax, property tax, and employment tax areas as well.
He is also the partner-in-charge of training development for the firm’s State and Local Tax practice. Scott’s main responsibilities involve providing research and advisory services on state and local tax issues for corporate and pass-through entity clients, including numerous FORTUNE 500 and middle market companies.
Scott frequently advises clients involved in state and local tax controversies and provides assistance with the state and local tax implications of business restructuring efforts of multistate entities. Scott focuses on state and local tax issues involving alternative investment funds (including private equity, real estate, and other fund structures), captive insurance companies, and companies emerging from bankruptcy proceedings.
