Dennis Prestia
Principal, State & Local Tax
Dennis is a tax principal and partner in charge for KPMG’s Northeast Indirect Tax practice. Dennis joined KPMG LLP in 1992. He provides state and local tax planning and consulting services to a diverse client base. He also serves as a national resource for multi-state indirect tax consulting services for high-end clients of the Firm. Dennis has extensive experience in evaluating sales and transactions tax compliance functions, which is critical for clients operating in multiple jurisdictions. He has assisted national and global clients in various industries with reviewing compliance requirements, analyzing current policies and procedures, and recommending process re-design improvement and/or automation solutions to help companies enhance their overall level of compliance. He has conducted numerous national Procurement Reviews to determine planning opportunities, potential under-compliance or over-compliance, and the sales and use tax implications of specific transactions.
In addition, he has assisted companies in various lines of business (i.e. Financial Services, Communications, Retail, and Pharmaceutical) to identify and implement sales and transactions tax planning opportunities with the goal of minimizing sales and use tax costs.
To keep the flow of ideas fresh and well-grounded in the client interest, Dennis sits on KPMG's National Indirect Tax Steering Committee. Dennis represents the Northeast region for the National Audit Defense and Risk Advisory (Transaction Tax) Initiatives for KPMG.
Dennis holds a BBA in Business Administration and Accounting from Pace University.
