Jose Padilla
Partner, M&A and International Tax
Jose Padilla has more than 23 years of experience advising regional and global clients across different industries on a full range of international and M&A tax and business issues. Jose has significant experience in tax advisory and tax planning for various industry sectors, including, among others, manufacturing, energy, retail, advisory, real estate, hoteling, and finance. He also has in-depth knowledge of inbound investment into the Latin America region by European and North American organizations.
Jose's experience also includes assisting multinational groups with reorganizations, transactions, and M&A activity, including due diligence and design of acquisition and financing structures. He has vast knowledge regarding corporate legal, labor, customs, and finance related matters in relation to the implementation of structures and transactions within Latin America.
Jose joined KPMG in June of 2021 from another Big Four firm based in London, where he established and led for more than six years a regional Center of Excellence. Comprising a multidisciplinary team of 15 senior tax professionals, including directors and partners from five LATAM countries, the center was dedicated to building strong business relationships and providing complex tax advice on regional and cross-border tax issues.
Jose is an active panelist and moderator at events held by various organizations, including ProMexico, U.K. - Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, HM Treasury Prosperity Fund, Lateinamerika Verein, Automechanika, IBFD, and London Business School, among many others. He has also published various articles for Bloomberg Tax, Puntos Finos (Mexican tax magazine), and other journals.
Jose holds a tax certification, issued by the Mexican Association of Public Accountants, and a public accountant professional degree issued by Universidad Iberoamericana A.C.
