Mark Northan
Partner, Dept. of Professional Practice
Mark is a partner in the KPMG Department of Professional Practice, Audit Quality group with over 20 years of experience working with the financial services industry. Mark is currently the head of the Derivatives and Hedging Topic Team and focuses on technical accounting for credit impairment, lending, investments, and transfers of financial assets.
Previously, Mark was a partner in the KPMG Charlotte office. He was primarily responsible for supervising audit and advisory engagements at large financial institutions.
Additionally, Mark completed a two-year appointment as a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He has also served on the FASB’s Transition Resource Group for Credit Losses and the AICPA’s Financial Reporting Executive Committee.
Mark received a B.S. in Accountancy from Wake Forest University and is a member of the AICPA. He is a certified public accountant in New York and North Carolina.
