Rachael is a national co-leader of the Research Credit Services practice at KPMG and currently based in San Francisco, California. 

Since joining KPMG in 2015, Rachael’s technical experience has assisted clients document and secure benefits for project life cycles across a multitude of industries and tax incentives. Rachael’s leadership and management expertise delivers maximum benefits with minimal disruption to company personnel for her clients. 

While in Washington National Tax (WNT), Rachael performed technical reviews of deliverables for the national practice, provided exam and audit support, developed implementation materials for engagement teams, and provided thought-leadership through published articles, external webcasts, and presentations and trainings for continuing professional education credits. Rachael’s knowledge of ever-evolving tax policies ensures that her clients receive both a personal and professional understanding that can be confidently relied upon.

Since moving back to the Bay Area, Rachael had led some of KPMG’s largest R&D tax credit projects and is a knowledge leader in the field. 

Professional and Industry Experience

Rachael has significant experience in providing tax services to a wide variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to small, privately held businesses. Additionally, Rachael’s project experience includes:

  • Performing all quantitative and qualitative aspects of tax incentives;
  • Conducting interviews with technical company personnel to identify qualified activities and capture related expenses;
  • Automation of client’s research credit information-gathering processes; 
  •  Drafting deliverables and technical narratives ready for audit; and
  •  Assisting clients with the defense of credits during federal and state audit examinations.

Rachael has served companies in aerospace, agriculture, architecture, construction and engineering, life sciences, manufacturing, retail and textiles, food and beverage processing, and computer software. With this expertise, Rachael provides tax consulting services on a wide array of tax incentives including the Research and Development Tax Credits, Investment and Energy Tax Credits, Orphan Drug Credit, Employee Retention Tax Credits, Opportunity Zones, and Lobbying Expense projects.
