John is a Partner in KPMG’s Employment Tax Services Group. John has over 21 years of experience specializing in employment taxes and has been with KPMG for 17 years.
John has over 20 years of experience specializing in employment tax issues in a wide array of industries. John specializes with clients in consulting and compliance services on all types of payroll and payroll tax related issues.
John assists clients with employment tax consulting and compliance services related to the movement of employees between legal entities, including corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, entity classification changes and liquidations. These services include ensuring a client is in compliance with all federal, state and local guidelines, including completing all necessary employment tax forms, with respect to withholding and unemployment taxes.
John assists clients with reviewing payroll tax processes and procedures to determine leading practices, if the company is properly complying with federal and state employment tax requirements, and if areas of savings opportunities or if potential exposure or risk exists.
John’s expertise also extends to the review and implementation of multi-jurisdictional withholding policies, procedures, and capabilities for clients with a mobile workforce throughout the United States.
John provides services related to employment tax controversy services at the federal, state and local level, notice resolutions, penalty and interest abatements, and all other issues associated with a client’s employment tax accounts, including the appropriate classification of individuals as an independent contractor or employee.
John assists clients to identify and secure refunds associated with the overpayment of employment taxes at both the federal and state levels that may have resulted from a past movement of employees between entities.
John’s expertise also extends to payroll compliance services. John provides services to non-U.S. based clients to assist them with payroll compliance within the U.S. John also provides liaison services between a non-U.S. based client and a U.S. third party payroll provider to ensure all payroll and payroll tax liabilities and payments are accurately reported and remitted.
