Principal, State and Local Tax
Kate is a Principal in the KPMG San Francisco office. She has more than 19 years of experience providing VAT/GST advice to US headquartered multinational clients, with a particular focus on the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors. Kate joined the KPMG US firm in late 2019, having previously been a Tax Partner with the KPMG member firm in Australia.
Kate has been managing and supporting clients in the digital sector to determine the VAT impact of digital supply rules for cross border online sales of goods and services. Her support of clients in this sector includes understanding the VAT/GST impact of the operating model and assistance with structuring advice; performing due diligence assignments in respect to M&A transactions; determining when a VAT/GST presence has been created; determining when VAT/GST registration is required and meeting ongoing filing obligations; assisting with VAT/GST concessions and exemptions; and assistance with managing reviews/audits from tax authorities.
Kate regularly presents on VAT/GST matters to clients and at industry conferences. She has a Bachelor of Laws and Commerce degree from Murdoch University, Western Australia.
