Partner – Head of Legal Services, Trade & Customs and Litigation
Juan Martin Jovanovich leads the legal practice for KPMG Argentina, and his current practice focuses on international trade and customs law, constitutional law, and tax litigation. Juan Martin has extensive experience presenting and assisting clients in customs and exchange control litigation. With more than 24 years of experience, he is recognized in Argentina and abroad for his work in the fields of exchange controls, international trade and customs law and tax litigation.
Before joining KPMG, Juan Martin was a partner with Baker McKenzie in Buenos Aires. His past experience also includes serving as a legal consultant to the Andean Community of Nations (Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia). He also was a member of the Focus Group on Customs Valuation and Transfer Pricing, organized by the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Organisation for the Economic Co-operation and Development . He regularly collaborates with the WCO in these and other topics.
Juan Martin is a former president of the Argentine Institute of Customs Studies and a founding member of the International Academy of Customs Law. He teaches law at the university level. He is professor of Customs Law and Procedure and a member of the Academic Council of the Masters Program in International Taxation of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, School of Law; professor in the Graduate Program in Tax Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires; and professor in the Graduate Program in Taxation at the Faculty of Economic Science of the University of Buenos Aires. Earlier, he was an assistant teacher of Economic Constitutional Law at the University of Buenos Aires Law School.
