Joni Johnson-Powe

Joni is a Partner in KPMG SALT – Transaction Tax Systems serving as the practice lead for the West Region. Based in Denver, she has more than 20 years of experience in state and local tax, indirect tax automation, and tax process improvement and optimization.

Professional and Industry Experience

Joni is responsible for a broad range of multi-national and global clients. She has extensive experience with a wide range of complex tax integration projects assisting clients with innovative designs, improving efficiencies while minimizing tax exposure and achieving optimal resource deployment. Joni’s current and past clients include publicly traded fortune 500 companies as well as start-up companies with unique automation needs. Joni also has a strong background in marketplace complexities and deploying new technologies, robotics and data analytic solutions.

Joni has advised clients on a wide range of multifaceted scenarios and led implementation projects for clients in a variety of industries. For example, she has achieved the following:

• Served as project lead on numerous global implementations providing tax and technology expertise for US, Canada, EMEA, APAC and Brazil.
•  Delivered innovative tax automation solutions utilizing robotics, Alteryx and data analytic platforms.
•  Served as tax SME for variety of clients integrating third-party indirect solutions such as Avalara, ONESOURCE, and Vertex.
•  Created custom solution designs and led deployments for eComm, telecommunications, biomedical and manufacturing industry clients.
•  Successfully led functional and technical tax technology project teams to create scalable, best-in-class tax solutions.
