Michael is a Director based out of the Tysons, Virginia, office and is part of KPMG’s Cyber Security Services practice. With more than 13 years of professional experience in risk management, compliance, and law, he focuses primarily on helping significant financial services institutions adopt leading cybersecurity, privacy, data risk management, and data governance practices. Among notable professional accomplishments, Michael has helped several highly regulated clients successfully respond to regulatory enforcement actions regarding inadequate data governance and information lifecycle management. Michael is a leader of KPMG’s Data Risk service offering and co-product manager of the Standard of Care graph database solution, helping to link relationships at scale across laws, regulations, corporate policies, risk and controls.
Michael holds his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and Master of Laws, with Honors, from the University at Buffalo Law School. Michael is licensed to practice law in Virginia, and he maintains a number of professional certifications including Fellow of Information Privacy, Certified Information Privacy Professional/US, and Certified Information Privacy Technologist. Before entering professional services, he served as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney (prosecutor) in Virginia specializing in financial and cybercrimes.
