Industries

Helping clients meet their business challenges begins with an in-depth understanding of the industries in which they work. That’s why KPMG LLP established its industry-driven structure. In fact, KPMG LLP was the first of the Big Four firms to organize itself along the same industry lines as clients.

James Gatley

Partner, Global Transfer Pricing Services

James Gatley is a partner in KPMG's Transfer Pricing practice, as well as its affiliated law firm, Moskowitz + Meredith LLP. James is a lawyer who has worked in international tax and transfer pricing since 1996. He has extensive experience in a variety of complex transfer pricing matters, including advance pricing arrangements, transfer pricing planning, audit defense, competent authority requests and documentation studies.

Prior to joining KPMG, James was the director of transfer pricing at one of the world's largest telecom companies. He was the first person to hold that position, one which required him to establish and manage a transfer pricing practice for a complex multi-billion dollar MNC. In that capacity, James managed and led a trilateral APA that was noted by the IRS, CRA and Inland Revenue (the relevant tax authorities) as being the largest and most complex APA ever undertaken by them.

Prior to working in industry, James practiced with another Big Four consulting firm. James’ experience in consulting and industry has given him a unique perspective and understanding of his client’s practical requirements.

James has a bachelor of commerce degree in finance and accounting, a master of business administration in business policy and a bachelor of law degree in taxation and corporate law. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and has completed/passed all levels of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Course.
