Teresa Fitzgerald

Teresa is a partner in the Financial Services Tax practice of KPMG. She has more than 27 years of experience in federal taxation, providing tax planning and compliance services to insurance organizations.
Teresa’s experience includes the following:
- Serves several large insurance companies throughout the United States; has significant experience with tax provision reviews for SEC organizations, statutory tax provisions, and tax compliance services involving life/nonlife consolidated tax returns
- Various IPO services including conversions to US GAAP and preparation of related footnote disclosures
- Experienced with GAAP Purchase Accounting including tax calculations and related disclosures
- Involved with tax planning services related to international tax, corporate reorganizations, corporate acquisitions and dispositions, and various reserve issues; is also experienced in assisting organizations with examinations by the Internal Revenue Service and various state taxing authorities
- Experienced with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley and has participated in all phases of the audit process related to taxes including engagement planning, control testing, and evaluation of design and operating effectiveness
- Director of KPMG’s Insurance Tax Seminar Series and serves as the lead instructor of the classes on introductory insurance tax and financial reporting for insurance companies.
