Michael B. Fishman

Michael Fishman is a national firm resource and leads KPMG LLP’s Research Credit Services (RCS) practice in the Central region. Michael has more than 19 years of overall experience assisting companies with tax incentives reviews, such as research tax credit reviews, Section 199 domestic production deduction reviews, meals and entertainment expenses reviews, and other federal incentives (e.g., energy incentives). Michael's industry and project experience spans many industries, such as aerospace and defense, consumer products, energy and utilities, food products, high tech, hospitality, industrial products and manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, and software.
Michael was the co-leader of KPMG's RCS technology development team. In this role, he led the effort to develop and roll out a leading Web-based smart questionnaire, documentation gathering, and quantitative technology tool. Michael leads RCS project teams including assessment, project implementations, and IRS reviews. In this role, Michael is responsible for all qualitative and quantitative aspects of the project deliverables. Michael also assists on a national basis with project technical support and sign-off.
Michael is a frequent speaker and writer on research credit topics. He has been a key speaker at Tax Executives Institute and other industry group events. He led the effort to publish a global guide to research incentives covering incentives in numerous jurisdictions. In addition, Michael participates in preparing and presenting at national firm trainings.
Michael is a certified public accountant in Massachusetts and Texas and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has a BS degree in accountancy and a MST degree from Bentley University.
