Marianne Evans
Senior Manager, State & Local Tax
Ms. Evans currently works with the Washington National Tax Practice of KPMG LLP where her responsibilities include drafting and reviewing memoranda and articles that analyze state tax implications of transactions and recent developments, along with designing and developing training for state and local tax professionals. She has published numerous articles and also is responsible for developing and updating the state and local tax section of Taxation of Financial Institutions. A significant amount of her time is spent addressing issues relating to partnerships and alternative investments.
Ms. Evans joined the KPMG Washington National Tax SALT practice in 1994. Since then, she has also worked with KPMG’s Center for Learning and Development, coordinating the design and development of federal and state and local tax training, and Risk Management-Tax, the practice within KPMG responsible for developing and implementing risk management procedures. Prior to joining KPMG, Ms. Evans worked with another Big Four Firm.
Ms. Evans has been an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center (GULC) since 1993 and served as faculty advisor for the State and Local Tax Advisor from 1998 to 2007. In 2013, she was selected as a recipient of the Silver Vicennial Medal for service to the University. She frequently teaches at KPMG internal tax training. Prior to public accounting, Ms. Evans was a writer and editor at Tax Analysts, which publishes Tax Notes and State Tax Notes.
