Michael J. Cowen

Michael is a Director in KPMG Infrastructure and Projects Advisory Services practice with over 20 years of experience. On a national basis he leads many of KPMG Real Estate and Facilities advisory services for corporate, developer, owner and public agency clients. He specializes in infrastructure strategies across the real estate lifecycle, which can include real estate portfolio optimization, development, corporate real estate, and investment decision support.

Michael understands that our clients need a strategic advisor - one that addresses how the real estate portfolio strategy aligns with their target operating model to meet key performance metrics. He leads teams that bring important lenses (e.g., operational, valuation, financial statement impact, ESG, climate risk, and capital planning) to inform the right real estate portfolio strategy and execution. During his time with KPMG, his teams have provided strategic real estate, transactional and development advice to clients like Fortune 500 technology companies, mixed-use developers, transit and transportation agencies.

Prior to KPMG, Michael has held a senior management role at a technology services provider, operated a private boutique consulting company, and served as a financial analyst for a large resort casino company.
