Jason R. Connery
Principal, Washington National Tax
Jason is a Principal in the International Tax group for the KPMG Washington National Tax practice. He specializes in advising global asset managers and their investors with respect to their U.S. fund investment tax matters. He regularly provides U.S. tax advice to fund sponsors and investors on all aspects of fund formation and investment, including advising on the eligibility of U.S. income tax treaty relief for payments of U.S. source income received by fiscally transparent entities and/or hybrid entities. Jason advises across all types of funds and asset classes, including credit funds, private equity funds, real estate funds and infrastructure funds. He has extensive experience advising on loan origination and distressed debt issues, particularly with respect to a fund’s non-U.S. investor base. He also provides tax advice to U.S.-based portfolio companies on matters involving subpart F, global intangible low-taxed income, foreign-derived intangible income, foreign currency and foreign tax credits. He is a frequent speaker and writer on U.S. international tax issues.
Jason holds an LLM degree from New York University School of Law; a JD degree, cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School; and a BS degree in accounting, with honors, from the University of Florida. He is on the Advisory Board for the Fisher School of Accounting at the University of Florida.
