Abner Chong
Partner, State & Local Tax
Abner is a partner in KPMG’s State and Local Tax practice. He has more than fifteen years of experience in industry accounting, tax controversy, tax compliance, planning and refund opportunities, and advising clients on structuring their transactions.
Abner has experience with a wide range of multi-state tax matters including advising clients on corporate and pass-through entity transactions. His primary focus is financial services and alternative investment funds. His client service includes multistate and local income/franchise tax compliance, analyzing states ability to assert nexus, planning alternative structures to manage tax liabilities, and identifying tax favorable apportionment and filing methodologies. Abner also has experience in dealing with accounting for state and local taxes pursuant to ASC 740, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes.
Abner holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (B.Com) from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Business Taxation degree (MBT) from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from the University of Oregon Law School.
