John is a Tax Partner in the KPMG M&A Tax practice, based in the firm’s Denver office. Additionally, John leads the Denver tax practice. John has more than 20 years of tax experience in structuring, planning, and compliance for public and privately held clients. John has extensive experience in all aspects of tax due diligence and strategic tax planning, including cross-border.  

Prior to leading the KPMG Denver M&A Tax practice, John’s prior experience included:

  • Vice President of Global Tax Planning for a Fortune 250 multinational company. There, John led a global tax team in M&A, cross-border tax planning, and treasury support.
  • Tax M&A Senior Manager in Atlanta and San Francisco serving a variety of M&A clients.
  • Tax Manager in Denver serving numerous tax clients.

Professional and industry experience 

John has experience in advising multinational corporations and private equity firms regarding the tax aspects of cross-border merger and acquisition transactions and tax reduction strategies. In addition to the transactional experience, John has significant experience serving companies with their strategic tax planning, restructurings, and treasury support.
