First automatic exchange of financial information under FATCA announced
The Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) on 20 May 2024 issued a press release announcing that the first automatic exchange of financial information under the FATCA agreement between Argentina and the United States will take place in September 2024.
The announcement follows the U.S. tax authority’s (IRS) confirmation that Argentina has the appropriate data security measures and infrastructure to effectively conduct this exchange. Since signing the FATCA agreement in December 2022, the AFIP has been working on meeting requirements to enable the first exchange of information.
