The agreement applies retroactively to refund claims relating to periods from 1 January 2021.
Italy and the United Kingdom on 7 February 2024 entered into an agreement that UK companies not established in Italy will not submit direct claims for refunds of value added tax (VAT) paid on goods and services in Italy in relation to their business activities, but instead will claim VAT refunds under the process set out in Council Directive (EU) 560/1986 (“Thirteenth Council Directive”).
The agreement applies retroactively to refund claims relating to periods from 1 January 2021.
