Our clients with foreign investments in different industries (e.g., private equity (PE), finance, multinational corporations) are required to complete informational benchmark surveys with the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). These surveys gather information on U.S. businesses and their foreign affiliates in order to evaluate the magnitude and impact of foreign trade and investment. The BEA surveys include three types of forms:
- BE-10 is the benchmark survey of U.S. direct investment abroad.
- BE-11 is the annual survey of U.S. direct investment abroad.
- BE-577 is the quarterly survey of U.S. direct investment abroad.
These surveys increase the demand placed on an already busy regulatory filing schedule, but our clients do not tend to give them the same priority status as regulatory filings required by the SEC.
