Inspiring the future

A&D employers must reimagine the industry’s appeal to workers by considering employee expectation and changing talent pools.

Aerospace and defense (A&D) companies that are struggling to fill skills gaps need to rethink the way they attract new talent and hold onto the skilled workers they have. After a handful of challenging years that have affected retention, career development, and work opportunities, it is time to question assumptions about what attracts people to the industry.

For our new KPMG report, Inspiring the future: A&D industry must reimagine its appeal to workers to thrive, we conducted a survey of workers and STEM students to understand their career preferences. We found that there is opportunity for companies in the industry to reconsider the employee value proposition model and that the most sought-after skills are easily transferable. A&D organizations must develop a message that the industry’s mission and purpose remain exciting, because they will have to compete harder than ever for the best brains.
