Jeffrey Steinhoff has 50 years experience in financial management, including a 40-year federal career, over 21 years of which was served in the Senior Executive Service, and over 10 years at KPMG as Managing Director of the KPMG Government Institute and Managing Director in the Federal Advisory Practice.

Jeffrey served in the government as Assistant Comptroller General of the United States for Accounting and Information Management and Managing Director for Financial Management and Assurance at the Government Accountability Office. Represented GAO on the PCAOB Standing Advisory Group and headed GAO’s largest audit unit, with oversight of financial management and auditing issues across the federal government, including audits of IRS, Bureau of Public Debt, and FDIC. Developed the Financial Audit Manual used for all federal financial statement audits; established Government Auditing Standards and federal Internal Control Standards; oversaw implementation of Office of Management Budget Circular A-123; led GAO's forensic auditing; financial management systems reviews; cost management; improper payments; and the full range of accountability and governance issues. 

Jeffrey served on the staff of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee and a principal architect of the landmark Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Act of 1990. Involved with government-wide implementation of the CFO Act and other financial management improvement legislation for which he was also a principal architect. Chaired an Independent Department of Defense Review Panel that made recommendations to the Secretary of Defense regarding the Defense Contract Audit Agency.

Widely recognized spokesperson, speaking at 100s of events and testifying extensively before Congress. Widely published author, and co-author of the book, Governing to Win: Enhancing National Competitiveness Through New Policy and Operating Approaches.
