Hans Ulrich is an expert in the transformation and optimization of treasury and risk functions at Swiss banks. With his extensive experience both as consultant and former CRO and CFO/COO, he supports banks in the areas of governance, regulatory change, financial and operational risk management as well as in the optimization of asset-liability management, liquidity risk management, funds transfer pricing and payment services.

Hans Ulrich Bacher has over 15 years of leadership and consulting experience in the financial industry and a strong background in risk management, treasury, finance, payment services, compliance, and operations.

Prior to joining KPMG in 2022, Hans Ulrich was a long-standing member of the Executive Board of a medium-sized Swiss bank, first as Chief Risk Officer, then as CFO/COO. In addition, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of a prepaid card provider, where he chaired the Audit and Risk Committee. He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of a pilar II pension foundation. 
Hans Ulrich benefits from a broad network and an extensive experience in exchanges with Swiss regulators and was, among others, member of the National Working Group, which helped shape regulatory requirements in the areas of liquidity and interest rate risks.

From 2009 to 2014, Hans Ulrich worked as a senior treasury specialist in the areas of liquidity risk management, ALM and funds transfer pricing at a large, internationally active bank.
Hans Ulrich holds a MSc. in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and obtained a PhD in Economics from HEC Lausanne (University of Lausanne).
