Our people

Learning

Our business is built on knowledge, experience and insight. Our people are our most valuable asset.

At our core, we are a learning organisation. To make the difference for our clients and help them solve their toughest challenges, we’re committed to continuously evolving our skills.

Our learning enables colleagues throughout their career journey; from Early Careers, right through to Partner Development, offering qualifications and development opportunities to ensure they reach their full potential.

This extends to our clients, and we provide them with access to our best content to help them achieve their business goals.

Our learning strategy for colleagues in a hybrid world addresses the key principles of successful remote working, giving colleagues the tools to plan and negotiate their time, while remaining motivated and stimulated to take on new challenges. This year, we have refreshed key programmes across our leadership development, business skills, business development and sales curriculums. And we have unlocked access to expert external learning content providers to help employees find what they need in a range of digestible formats.

Learning is something that never ends – it iterates and evolves. Through our Space to Learn proposition, we have invested in an agile curriculum and advanced learning technology so that we can build a culture of lifelong learning within our firm. We’re ensuring that our people are equipped with the skills of today – and tomorrow.

Space to Learn

Our learning function has undergone a transformative journey, with significant investment in our curriculum and technology.

Our learning programmes Our agile curriculum is aligned with strategic growth priorities and adapted to meet the evolving needs of both our business and our people. Our curriculum encompasses: Early Careers and Lifelong Learning, Leadership and Executive Development, Business and Professional Skills, Strategic Accelerators, and Risk and Ethics. In addition to learning from these areas of expertise, colleagues are supported by our Capability Business Schools, designed to meet the technical learning needs of colleagues, wherever they work.
Our learning technology As our digital transformation rolls out, we will be able to harness KPMG’s digital ecosystem to identify and align learning to skills pathways, ensuring the skills we offer to market as a firm are relevant and can adapt to a changing landscape. Through ongoing investment we’ll soon see the launch of our AI learning assistant, Spark, who will bring colleagues hyper-personalised learning in the flow of work. Spark will provide colleagues with learning that is tailored to their level of familiarity, giving them the choice of when, where and how they prefer to learn.

Focus on: Strategic Accelerators; learning that anticipates market trends

Our Strategic Accelerators curriculum is driving innovation, transformation, and agility across our business. We are equipping our colleagues with the knowledge and skills they need to adapt to the fast-changing business landscape, to support our clients' evolving needs, and enhance our ways of working.

Since it launched in 2024, the curriculum has introduced several key initiatives, building on our existing strengths in AI and ESG.

AI Learning

Almost every business we work with is looking for ways to understand and accelerate AI’s value and use it to unlock new opportunities to drive sustainable growth.

We know AI will only reach its full potential when it’s paired with human expertise and ingenuity, so as well as developing market-leading AI tools and ethical frameworks, we’re also investing in training for our people. As well as successful learning campaigns, like Summer of AI, our curated self-led learning modules support colleagues by providing a consistent baseline knowledge on AI. Our Generative AI e-learning module has been completed over 4,200 times since launching.

ESG Learning

Strategic Accelerators is also enabling ESG as the watermark that runs through our organisation. We are empowering our people to become agents of positive change by providing comprehensive training to ensure ESG considerations are integrated into all aspects of our work. Our learning fits a range of formats including our Values Day onboarding event, introductory e-learning courses, an ESG Explained podcast series and a series of immersive events as part of our Leaders 2050 network. Additionally, we offer in-depth specialised training for colleagues focused on ESG-related client delivery.

Upskilling our people: Summer of AI

Throughout the summer of 2024, we upskilled our people through sessions focused on the future of technology and AI. Over the course of more than 30 sessions, we explored the world of AI with industry experts, our clients, KPMG teams already using AI across our firm, and some of our alliance partners at Microsoft, Databricks, and Google.

Our Summer of AI sessions attracted almost 4,500 views, and featured our clients sharing how we’re working with them to develop Generative AI strategies, discussions about AI ethics and future innovations.

The series has given fantastic insights into key considerations around this technology, and how it is driving growth across different industries. This builds on the success of the Summer of AI in 2023, which was nominated for a CIPD award for best digital/technology initiative in HR/L&D.
