Sonia Gandhi is the National leader for KPMG’s Global Mobility Services (GMS) tax and Immigration Law practice in Canada. She is passionate about employee mobility and the future of work. Sonia has worked exclusively in the income tax space for the last 25 years, specializing in cross border taxation and advising companies with global work forces. Sonia helps her clients in managing tax risk associated with their mobile employees, including the development of international cross border policies, business travelers, remote work and payroll advisory and corporate tax planning. She provides practical advice and solutions to her clients on cross border tax matters, including tax residency analysis, tax treaty interpretation, departure & repatriation planning and tax structuring.
In addition to her role, Sonia is a member of KPMG’s Global GMS Executive Committee and has held various Board positions including, KPMG in Canada Board of Directors Sub-Committee, KPMG Global GMS Board of Directors, CERC Board of Directors, and past Secretary and Board of Directors of the Mississauga Food Bank. She is also the KPMG Partner sponsor for the KPMG Women’s Interchange Network.
Sonia has also authored professional publications including, the Canadian Tax Foundation - Personal Tax Planning Journal, 2020 article “Pack your Suitcase! The Baggage of Canada’s Departure Tax”, and has been a speaker at various Canadian TEI Tax, CPA Canada and CERC seminars.
