Mike Power has over 22 years of professional taxation experience and leads KPMG Halifax’s Private Enterprise Practice. Mike has extensive experience in all areas of corporate taxation including advising and planning on the reorganization of companies, purchases & sales of businesses, US/Canadian cross border structures and corporate tax planning. He has advised both private and public companies throughout the Maritimes in a variety of industries including manufacturing, financial services, transportation, franchising and real estate. Mike has provided proactive tax advice for several non-resident companies starting up businesses in Canada. This tax advice includes the establishment of the optimum Canadian structure, financing strategies, commodity tax implications, payroll issues and corporate tax compliance and planning.
Mike has extensive experience in the manufacturing sector and has advised some of the largest manufacturers in the Maritimes, including on Canadian tax credit programs such as Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SRED) and specific investment tax credit programs available. Mike leads a great local tax team that provides proactive, creative and timely tax solutions to KPMG’s Maritime clients.
