      Health and wellbeing

Creating an environment that promotes health and wellbeing and enables our people to thrive.

Our people are what make our firm a success. We recognise the importance of health and wellbeing in enabling our people to be at their best - so we make it a priority. We provide our colleagues with extensive access to essential services, guidance and support networks, helping them thrive at work and at home.

Modern life comes with a variety of challenges, but we focus our approach on the areas where we feel we can have the biggest positive impact - mental health, preventative health, financial wellbeing and supporting working families. Our strategy has been shaped by listening to our people and developed with specialists in these fields.

We regularly monitor the effectiveness of the services on offer and initiatives we lead - measuring colleague wellbeing, service uptake and wider trends - to help develop and improve what we do, and respond to the ever-evolving pressures on peoples mental, physical, social and financial health.

      Our wellbeing strategy

Our wellbeing strategy takes an integrated approach which focuses on prevention and support across our four wellbeing pillars of mental health, preventative health, financial wellbeing, and supporting working families.

We empower our people to take good care of their mental health by equipping them with the tools and information they need to do this.

Our people are offered confidential access to Unmind, a workplace wellbeing platform that offers clinically backed proactive and preventative wellbeing content to include learning and development programmes and bitesize tools to help form better habits – from sleep, to mindfulness and yoga – as well as regular wellbeing assessments to track their personal mental health journey.

BeWell is KPMG’s independent, confidential employee assistance programme, offering emotional assistance and support through a team of trained counsellors in areas such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief and relationships.

All colleagues also have access to Viva Insights, a tool that provides personalised recommendations to help manage and improve productivity and wellbeing. The tool works by providing useful recommendations to help colleagues do their best work, stay connected and protect their time.

We're committed to making health and wellbeing support accessible to everyone. We provide our colleagues with fast, convenient access to specialist information, advice and treatment when they need it. Whether that be through our 24/7 remote GP or opting into services such as private healthcare, dental care and physiotherapy. These essential services lay the foundation for our health and wellbeing support.

Our firm-wide wellbeing initiatives aim to educate our people and encourage healthier lifestyle choices. Colleagues have access to full health assessments with Nuffield Health and discounted gym memberships. They can also take advantage of our cycle to work scheme, which loans bikes and equipment to our people, to help them discover a more active commute.

We have an important role to play in every aspect of our colleagues’ wellbeing, and this includes their financial wellbeing too. We want our people to feel confident and in control when it comes to their money. We provide advice and tips on managing finances and signpost them to useful resources from internal and external experts, such as our Pensions team and the Money Advice Service. We also share resources on topical money matters - such as how to make the most of your money during uncertain times - alongside financial benefits and discounts.

Family comes first at our firm. Our tailored support for working families is designed to help colleagues balance successful work and personal lives, whatever stage of family life they’re at – whether caring for children, elder dependents or other family members. Our Families network aims to support our people as they embark on a new stage of family life, provide resources to colleagues with caring responsibilities, and help managers and peers understand the challenges colleagues with family responsibilities face, so they can better support them at work.

Our policies and processes provide support and comfort to our working families, parents and carers:

      • Our personal, parental and carers leave policies enable colleagues to take time off work for childcare, caring and other family responsibilities.
      • We provide emergency back-up care for dependants if care arrangements fall through.
      • Colleagues can also flex their benefits to include family members on services like private medical and dental care.
      • When a colleague goes on maternity, shared parental or adoption leave, they receive a gift from KPMG. This is provided and delivered by ‘From Babies With Love’, a not-for-profit organisation who donate 100% of profits to orphaned and abandoned children.
      • To further promote wellbeing, over the summer months, our ‘Jump Start’ programme provides colleagues with the opportunity to start their weekend half a day early, or if their working hours or commitments don’t support this, on another day during the week.

      KPMG’s Menstruation and Menopause Policy

Our aim is to create an open and inclusive environment where our people truly feel the menopause is not an issue that needs to be hidden and can talk about it openly without hesitancy or fear of embarrassment. In 2022, KPMG launched a new menopause policy, which sets out the support available for colleagues before, during and after the menopause. In 2024, we refreshed this policy to also cover menstruation and the support available.

As part of this policy, all colleagues have access to consultations with menopause trained GPs, personalised care plans, and 24/7 access to menopause trained nurses through the Bupa Menopause Plan. Through events, our Menopause Ambassador network and monthly Menopause Cafes, we provide opportunities for peer support and knowledge sharing that helps colleagues have a more positive menopause experience. Colleagues have access to free period products and desk fans in all KPMG offices, a remote GP service, options for agile working and access to our employee assistance programme.  We provide colleagues with information about menstruation and menopause, and set up menopause training to help performance, engagement and line managers to provide effective support.

Woman wearing glasses holding laptop and diary in her arms
We recognise menstruation and the menopause can impact a person’s personal and working life. We see this as a workplace issue that requires active focus.

We want all our people to feel supported to thrive with us, and confident in asking for help when they need it. We also want our leaders and managers to fully understand the symptoms and impacts of menstruation and the menopause, and to feel confident in supporting colleagues.

      Embracing flexible working

At KPMG, we operate a flexible hybrid model. Flexible because we put empowerment at the heart of our thinking and hybrid because we work across our UK offices, client and audited entity sites and home.

We know that one size certainly doesn’t fit all, so rather than have a set of strict rules, we have guiding principles to support our ‘client-first’ mindset. These principles help leaders and their teams to strike the right balance between delivering quality outcomes for our clients and audited entities, whilst enabling our people to develop personally and improving our individual and collective productivity.

We’re creating a tech-driven business that empowers and equips our people to be outstanding in delivery, no matter where they work. We’re working to transform our offices into collaborative spaces and investing in new technology for our people.

Some of the ways we've invested include:

      Enabling collaboration

Throughout our offices, we’ve upgraded a number of meeting rooms with full video and audio technology and provided a variety of unique workspaces, enabling creative collaboration and ensuring internal and client meetings are effective and inclusive, no matter where you’re joining from.

      Modern client working

We’ve invested in two state-of-the-art Ignition Centres in London and Manchester - collaborative hubs designed to spark innovation and support the digital transformation of our clients. We bring insights, people and technology together, using the latest data and analytics and artificial intelligence tools, to accelerate growth. Our plans for hybrid working extend to our partnerships externally too, with programmes such as our strategic university partnerships providing additional insight to help clients deal with hybrid working and access to shared collaboration spaces.

      Communities

We use Viva Engage, our firmwide communications and networking tool to empower our colleagues to connect and engage with each other through collaboration and knowledge sharing, with over 1.1M post views on average every month.

      Creating communities and a culture
      of belonging

We foster connection and community through a large number of employee-run clubs and networks.  Our colleagues build connections through our 16 inclusion, diversity and equity employee networks and communities such as our Cancer Community, an informal group that supports colleagues affected by cancer.

KPMG also sponsors over 20 Sports and Social Clubs that bring our people together and support their physical and mental wellbeing – from arts and badminton, to hiking and scuba diving.

      Learning and development

Our business is built on knowledge, experience and insight. Our people are our most valuable asset.

At our core, we are a learning organisation. We are committed to developing a culture where colleagues are supported to make every moment a learning moment, through learning that happens in the flow of work. To make the difference for our clients and help them solve their toughest challenges, we’re committed to continuously evolving our skills.

Our Space to Learn investment represents a new way to think about learning at KPMG – from the day colleagues join us and throughout their careers. Our curriculum combines expert KPMG knowhow, inspiring external thinking and the professional and technical skills of our KPMG Business Schools.

This learning is enabled by Spark, our AI-powered skills coach, bringing colleagues the learning that will unlock their career potential, help them to deliver great client outcomes and be expert business operators.

      Learning isn’t a one-off event: it’s a lifelong journey.

With Space to Learn, we’re creating an environment where every colleague can keep pace with market developments and grow into the best version of themselves. It’s about giving people the tools, the confidence, and the space to thrive - because when we learn, we lead.

      Space to Learn

Our learning function has undergone a transformative journey, with significant investment in our curriculum and technology.

      Our learning programmes

Our learning programmes give colleagues the skills they need at every stage of their career. They are designed to keep our people compliant, up to speed with market developments, and ready to lead and deliver exceptional results.

Our central curriculum is structured around the essential business priorities of ‘Lead, Grow and Protect’. This allows us to reflect the strategic objectives of our firm and ensure our people are equipped with a consistent approach to these essential subjects.

This central learning is supported by our Capability Business Schools, which offer role-specific learning that helps colleagues build the technical skills they need to succeed. These Schools provide focused development that supports day-to-day performance and long-term growth, ensuring everyone has the tools to thrive.

      Our learning technology

Our award-winning AI skills coach, Spark brings together over 20,000 learning resources from KPMG’s learning libraries.

Spark can curate and recommend learning that is personalised to learners and where they are in their learning and career journeys. Spark is conversational and adaptive, learning from each interaction and can help with anything from course recommendations to in-the-moment coaching.

Spark is not only revolutionising internal learning but is also gaining external recognition. Spark is a key enabling technology in multiple client engagements and has also been shortlisted for two prestigious industry awards.

      Making the difference
      to our people

Learning is becoming a core part of how we work and grow. Across the firm, colleagues are seeing the benefits of investing in their development – helping them build skills, unlock career opportunities, and deliver even better outcomes for clients. This shift means learning is no longer seen as optional, but as something that makes a real difference to our people and our clients.

Each year, we ask our people for their views on KPMG’s learning offer. In October 2025, 70% expressed satisfaction with the learning and development available - a notable 5% increase from last year. Our flourishing learning culture is driven by the strong sense of personal responsibility our people feel towards their growth, with 88% recognising its importance.

      Welcoming our new joiners

In Autumn 2025, we welcomed students to KPMG through an 11-week induction programme delivered across hubs nationwide.

The programme was designed to help new joiners feel supported, connected, and ready to work, while building competence, confidence, and community.

Together, we delivered 25,536 learning hours – an average of 32 hours per person – and contributed 2,394 Corporate Responsibility hours, equating to 3 hours per person.

Following the sessions, 100% of participants said they understood KPMG’s values and how to apply them in their work.

      AI learning

We continue to upskill colleagues of all levels to keep pace with rapid digital innovation. One such initiative is our AI Advisory Upskilling programme, available to all grades and service lines. This 12-month apprenticeship enables participants to earn a Level 4 Business Analysis Qualification while mastering AI for Business Value. We’ve already onboarded our first pilot cohort in October, and over 130 spaces have been secured for colleagues to join.

Sue Richardson, Advisory COO and programme sponsor commented, “AI is transforming our industry, not just in how we deliver for our clients, but also how we support them on their own AI journeys. This programme is enabling us to get a really broad range of colleagues and teams from Advisory immersed in AI, with the idea that they can then share this knowledge back with the business.”
