A fully digital solution

      When Coop set out to take an even greater digital leap across all its store locations, the company chose KPMG as their strategic partner. The Microsoft platform was already at the core of Coop’s digital services, and all 1 200 + store locations were using Teams Frontline as their daily collaboration tool. It was therefore a natural next step to build on the Power Platform, and together, we developed and rolled out the Power Apps solution, "Check".

      For several years, Coop had its own system for operational follow-up and task management within its retail network. Over time, the system had grown large and complex. It lacked modern functionalities, and only a limited group of employees had access. Coop wanted a fully digital solution with both desktop and mobile interfaces, and one that would be available to all store employees.

      A broader modernization effort

      Coop didn't just want to replace the old system, they wanted to build something simpler and more accessible. They explored off-the-shelf market solutions but found none that fully met their needs.

      Since many of their digital needs were already covered through tools such as Teams, Viva Engage, and SharePoint Modern, they required a solution that would integrate seamlessly with these applications. That's how Check was born.

      Task planning and operational checks

      Check, the new operations tool, consists primarily of two components: task planning and operational checks. The task planning module enables each store to plan what needs to be done and when, while allowing tasks to be assigned to specific people, departments, or roles.

      The operational checks consist of a set of checklists used by both the store and the operations organization to identify areas for improvement.

      The premise was set early

      Before the project began, Coop had already established a key requirement. The tool had to be accessible to everyone via Teams as hub. Check can be used seamlessly on both mobile and desktop devices. The fully digital solution allows employees to work more efficiently and sustainably.

      Out go printers and wall-mounted task lists, in comes a digital, real-time overview where tasks can be updated and adjusted continuously. With built-in traceability, both store management and the operational managers can easily follow up and stay informed.

      Innovative technology

      As an organization with unique operational needs, Coop required a solution tailored for its business, making Power Apps the natural choice. This platform offered a wide range of prebuilt components for rapid deployment, while also providing endless possibilities for customization and future upgrades.
