Francisco Uría was appointed KPMG International’s Global Head of Banking and Capital Markets on 1 April 2021. He also serves as a Senior Partner KPMG Abogados (Spain) and is the Head of Financial Services, Banking & Capital Markets for the EMEA region. A qualified lawyer, Francisco holds a Doctorate of Law (Banking Regulation) from the Complutense University of Madrid. Prior to joining KPMG, he was a State Attorney in the State Secretariat of Economy, the State Tax Administration Agency and the State Attorney General. Francisco has held positions as Technical General Secretary of the Ministry of Development (1999-2000), Technical Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance (2000-2002), Deputy Minister of Finance (2002-2004), Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Legal Department of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) (2004-2010).
