    This edition of this survey represents the latest remuneration data for those companies contained within the FTSE Small Cap Index. Much of the data analysed in this survey represents decisions made in the post-COVID-19 era. This is especially true for the short-term incentives offered an received by executives, however, the effect of COVID-19 can still be seen in those longer-term incentives which have vested within this latest review period.

    In addition to the above, this survey also represents the latest expectations from external investors. This can be seen in the increase of performance targets linked to shareholder value and the increased emphasis on Environmental, Social and Governance targets, applied primarily to short-term incentives.
