Lawrence’s practice at KPMG Law covers a wide range of cross-border legal and tax consultation activities, including cross-border investment, private equity, regulatory compliance, merger and acquisitions, restructuring, securities, Taiwan long-term care laws, transnational franchise, international arbitration and litigation, and global privacy and data protection. Before joining KPMG Law, Lawrence practiced for 18 years as a foreign attorney with another Big Four-affiliated law firm in Taiwan. In such capacity, he led multidisciplinary legal, audit, financial advisory, and tax teams to assist Taiwanese multinational companies on their international mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and regulatory compliance projects. He also provided legal consulting and negotiation services to corporations, private equity, and financial institutions. Further, Lawrence handled both international arbitration and litigation disputes in Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe and the U.S. and provided integrated solutions covering U.S. taxation, taxation of transnational restructuring investment and legal consultancy to multinational companies. In his securities practice, Lawrence had advised more than 20 foreign companies as issuer or underwriter counsel for their initial public offering or secondary offerings, SPAC listings on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taipei Exchange, London Stock Exchange, Luxembourg Stock Exchange, and NASDAQ. Finally, in his Taiwan long-term care practice, Lawrence has advised various Taiwan long-term care providers on regulatory compliance. Lawrence graduated with Honors from the University of California at Berkeley and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He is licensed as an attorney in California and is certified as CIPP/E by the IAPP. He is a native speaker and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese, and English.
