      Lisbon, July 6 — KPMG in Portugal announced the launch of KPMG Law, a new firm entering the Portuguese legal sector with a multidisciplinary offering that combines technical excellence, sector insight, international reach through close alignment with KPMG’s Advisory, Assurance and Tax capabilities.

      KPMG Law’s launch in Portugal responds directly to companies’ evolving needs as they navigate increasingly interconnected legal, regulatory, financial, technological and operational challenges. The firm is designed to support organizations through critical decisions, complex transactions, and transformation programmes that require an integrated, value-driven approach.

      This is a strategic step in the evolution of KPMG in Portugal, strengthening our ability to offer clients a truly integrated and differentiated response to the increasingly complex challenges they face. The legal function is no longer isolated and is now embedded in business decision-making, in coordination with tax, financial, regulatory, and technological dimensions.       KPMG Law is led by Luís Magalhães, Partner and member of the Executive Committee of KPMG in Portugal, and begins its operations with a strong, experienced and quality-focused team. The team consists of includes seven partners: Bernardo Almeida Azevedo (Public Law and Litigation), Dzhamil Oda (Competition, EU Law and Regulation), João Afonso (Corporate, M&A and Cross-Border Transactions), Jorge Cortez (Corporate and M&A), Manuel Gouveia Pereira (Environment & Climate, Natural Resources and ESG), Marta Gouveia Gomes (Real Estate, Construction, Tourism and Urban Planning) and Samantha Cyrne (Corporate, M&A and Private Clients).

Built from the ground up without legacy systems, the firm launches as artificial intelligence. automation, data management and legal department transformation are reshaping how legal services are delivered and evaluated. This foundation enables KPMG Law to embed technology across its teams’ work, supporting more proactive, efficient, and innovative responses to client needs.

      The firm will also support organizations in digital transformation, ESG and sustainability, helping them develop more efficient, integrated legal and operational models to address evolving regulatory and market demands.
