Sarika has been with KPMG for more than 13 years. She is a tax professional with over 15 years’ experience at big four accounting firms.
Professional Experience:
Since the start of her career Sarika has specialised in expatriate and employees’ tax including expatriate policy design, personal/individual income tax, employees’ tax and remuneration structuring, employee/executive share schemes and incentive compensation, international taxation of individuals, interpretation of double taxation agreements and employees’ tax compliance and process management. Her expertise enables her to advise regarding controls, policies and procedures for clients to ensure optimum payroll processing within legislative requirements. She has extensive experience in the management of expatriate payroll and individual compliance matters, both for inbound and outbound assignees. Of recent relevance; she is experienced in managing complex payroll and personal income tax filings regarding the foreign earnings exemption and foreign tax credit management for outbound expatriates, managing equity compensation and directives for specific payroll processing in this regard.
She serves on the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (“SAICA”)’s employees’ tax sub-committee of their National Tax Committee, which represents taxpayers in engagement with the National Treasury and the South African Service on matters related to local and foreign employers, individual tax payers and expatriates. Her involvement in this committee provides the benefit of having input into the design of legislation, filing systems and other operational matters.
Sarika is the driving force behind the payroll diagnostic tool developed and used to review employment tax compliance of clients and the data and analytics obtained us used to better the internal processes and procedures ensuring accurate compliance.
She has served clients across all industries and sectors on Global Mobility and employment tax compliance, and have advised extensively to clients in the financial services sector.
