The changing face of finance
AI, geopolitics and a changing workforce are reshaping how businesses operate and create value. As a result, the demands on finance leaders are evolving. They can no longer be solely technical experts; they must also be strategists, storytellers, influencers, collaborators, change agents, problem-solvers and performance managers. They need to be just as confident articulating the corporate vision and driving digital transformation as they are analyzing financial data and overseeing compliance.
To support this shift, the company turned to KPMG in the UK to help transform its highly skilled finance professionals into more adaptable business partners and embed lasting behavioral change at scale.
Implementing the "Future of Finance Academy"
KPMG in the UK worked with CCEP to co-create a comprehensive learning program for senior managers and associate directors in its finance function. We began by developing a strong understanding of the unique business context in which the company and its finance team operate.
This also helped us determine the best mode of delivery for its globally distributed finance function and identify opportunities to stretch CCEP’s ambitions further.
For example, the KPMG team proposed turning the final module of the course into a showcase presentation. Trainees applied what they had learned to real business challenges and presented their solutions to the board in a business pitch-style competition. Although this added to finance leaders’ already demanding workload, it proved to be one of the course’s most successful elements, enabling participants to put their new skills into practice.
Before work on the Academy began, KPMG developed a detailed plan setting out how the two teams would work together, ensure consistency across the learning modules, maintain quality assurance, and manage changes to scope.
KPMG professionals then collaborated closely with CCEP to co-create bespoke learning content, with CCEP’s senior finance leaders acting as subject matter experts alongside our own finance specialists.
A culture for continuous learning
The “Future of Finance Academy” is a structured eight-week training program. Its immersive content is tailored to CCEP’s business context and designed to deliver lasting, measurable improvements.
Participants complete five core modules, delivered both face-to-face and virtually:
- The changing global finance landscape
- Leading data and analytics practices
- Governance and risk management
- How to lead successful transformation
- Applying the learning to the company’s three key priorities — sustainability, AI and digital transformation
To date, four cohorts have completed the Academy, with eight more planned. This will bring the total number of finance leaders upskilled for the future to 360.
CCEP has seen a marked rise in both employee engagement and retention. Participants are actively seeking opportunities to build new skills and helping to foster a culture of continuous learning.
