Mark Thomas has worked in our Tauranga office since 1993 – until recently he was partner-in-charge of the tax team. Mark started his career working for Inland Revenue, and worked there for six years before joining a manufacturing company, and then a major supermarket co-operative in Auckland, before joining KPMG. As a highly successful tax accountant, he was an expert at applying tax law to practical situations, optimising business structures to minimise tax risk and structuring transactions for his clients so they were tax efficient. He made the move to Private Enterprise in 2012, seeking to work in a more hands-on manner with his client base. He maintains a strong interest in tax issues but has wider experience across strategic planning and restructuring.
