Problems with data migration remain one of the most important reasons for delays to and sometimes even the failure of ERP projects. In practice, simply transferring data from the ‘old’ system to the ‘new’ one is a very complex process.

A properly regulated process of data migration requires knowledge and expertise from a team of different specialists. Data migration is a complex and privacy-sensitive process that needs to be started in timely fashion and must be coordinated with the phasing out of old systems and the phasing in of new ones. New system introductions regularly have to be postponed because the migration of the legacy data cannot be achieved on time, or with sufficient quality. In migration pathways, questions must be answered about storage terms and the form in which data needs to be stored. In addition, the privacy of customer-related data plays an important role. And data migration also has an important financial component: financial data needs to be migrated accurately, completely and on time in order to assure financial continuity.

In order to avoid surprises during the migration, we will develop and implement a migration strategy, perform mapping between legacy systems and recipient systems and develop and implement a control framework to assure the quality of the migration. We will also train end users to perform migration checks. Our in-depth knowledge of the data models in SAP, Oracle and Microsoft are fully integrated into our methodology. Thanks to our international partnerships with various technology providers, we are able to direct the actual technical migration.
