Companies with global ambitions cannot afford to ignore the opportunities for profitable growth offered by mergers, acquisitions and disposals. However, if these transactions are to create real value, it is important that the tax implications of each deal are dealt with from the outset. This is especially important in cross-border deals, where differing regulations and business cultures need to be reconciled in order to reveal the risks and opportunities of a transaction.
Our M&A Tax team are involved in providing tax advisory services in connection with corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, advising on tax efficient investment structures, conducting tax due diligence, assisting with tax modeling as well as transaction document review.
We are currently looking for interns to join our M&A Tax practice. Working with our esteemed clients and engaging in our business practices will provide you with the opportunity to gain real-world experience in M&A Tax. This will further strengthen your analytical skills, improve your communication effectiveness, and develop your engagement management capabilities as you join M&A Tax team in assisting our clients to navigate their business operations and planned M&A transactions from a tax perspective.
Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance in various types of M&A Tax engagements (e.g. tax due diligence/ tax advisory projects) as assigned by senior team members;
- Support with various stages of M&A Tax engagements (e.g. proposal and engagement setup, information request, data and information processing, basic report drafting, billing) as assigned by senior team members;
- Conduct comprehensive research on applicable tax laws, tax rulings, and regulations and analyze their implications in specific M&A scenarios;
- Assist in the preparation of business development materials; and
- Other tasks assigned/ required by performance manager/ engagement managers/ senior team members.
Requirements:
- Final year students or fresh graduates with bachelor’s degree in relevant subjects, e.g. accounting, finance, economics, law, investment, etc;
- Enthusiastic to gain knowledge in M&A Tax, demonstrating “can do” and “team working” attitude with an ability to learn quickly;
- Analytically minded, possessing critical and logical thinking skills as well as the ability to effectively read and interpret tax and regulatory documents;
- Strong willingness and ability to further develop your technical knowledge and learn from others;
- Strong organizational, time management skills and effective communication skills;
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative;
- Fluent in English and Vietnamese. Speaking another language is a plus;
- Good accounting knowledge and research skill. Experience in consulting environment is a plus; and
- Proficient in MS Office suite.
