“The shortage of housing must remain a priority for every UK Government until the crisis is solved. But, making inroads is difficult, and in reality little progress has been made over the last decade.
“Market conditions have been challenging since Covid, particularly around material and labour cost and availability, which together with increased financing costs has meant that many schemes are no longer viable.
“Improving the long running issue of housing in these tough market conditions will require concerted central and local government action in close partnership with the private sector.”
