Commenting on the reforms to the Contracts for Difference scheme confirmed by the Government, Wafa Jafri, Partner and Lead of Energy and Natural Resources Strategy KPMG UK, said:

"The decisions announced reflect the importance of the next renewables auction (AR7) for meeting the Government's 2030 Clean Power Mission. Relaxing the eligibility criteria to maximise potential deployment and extending the length of the contract terms to reduce costs to consumers, coming off the back of the decision to rule out zonal pricing, shows the importance the Government attaches to attracting low carbon investment to the UK and keeping costs for consumers down.”
