Year-end financial reporting disclosures often provide a huge amount of valuable corporate information which it is important to analyse on sector and segmented basis for comparability.

2022 has been a mixed year for headline solvency ratio movements against the backdrop of volatile market movements and significant financing decisions by a number of insurers. This KPMG report compares the year-end 2022 Solvency II disclosures of 15 large UK life insurers and European insurance representatives, summarising key insights into their solvency performance. This can provide valuable insights at a time when many insurers continue to explore strategies to optimise capital generation for wider business initiatives.

The report additionally highlights key trends in IFRS 17 and climate-related financial disclosures and provides a comparative overview of the key disclosed variables. This can be read in conjunction with a deeper dive on 2022 insurers' reporting on IFRS 17 and IFRS 9.

This report draws information from the year-end 2022 annual reports and considers the consolidated Group position of the companies, where applicable.
